Residency at Mount Sinai West and Morningside means living in great New York City. Both hospitals are located in the Upper West Side. On your average day you can choose from the best theaters in the world, including Broadway, Lincoln Center, and the Metropolitan Opera. Bike or run through Central Park or along the Hudson River. Our residents are represented by the Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR), the largest house staff union in the United States. The residency program complies with the collective bargaining agreement between the hospitals and CIR.
Salary for residents is consistent with that at other institutions in the New York City area. The salary for interns beginning in July 2025 is $85,446.69, and will increase to $96,116.30 by their PGY-4 year.

The hospital provides shuttles between the two training sites between 6:00 am and midnight. There is a Mount Sinai Uber account for transportation to and from hospital sites outside shuttle timings.
Parking is available at a subsidized rate for housestaff who do not live in hospital housing.
Residents receive 4 weeks of paid vacation each year.
Individual and family health insurance is offered, including vision care and dental coverage. In addition, residents are provided with accidental death and disability coverage.
All residents are guaranteed housing. We offer accommodations in two apartment buildings across the street from Mount Sinai West, at 515 West 59th Street and at 10 Amsterdam Avenue. Apartments include 24-hour door attendants, intercom security systems, and laundry rooms. Larger apartments are available to residents with families.
