Herbert Carter Global Community Magnet (HCGC) is located in Marion, Arkansas.

Marion School District has a policy that states students can not miss more than 10 days a semester before parents/students are penalized. This policy can be found on our school district's official page/website.
All absences that are excused due to doctor's notes will not count against students.
I expect all students to be respectful to all adults and students within our school environment. I expect the very best from my students academically, because I know they can do all things that they put their minds to.
I have my classroom wish list linked under my teacher information, but I will link it here as well.
Parents are always welcome to buy more school supplies if they would like to. I use all extra school supplies for students who weren't able to purchase any and also for the remainder of the school year.
I only assign homework to students twice a week.
If students do not finish in-class assignments, then they are told to finish them for homework. Those are the only instances that students may have homework more frequently than twice a week.
If students need extra help, please help to accommodate them in any form that you feel is necessary.
This could be reading over their work, helping with their work, asking about their day, and allowing them frequent brain breaks.
If you would like to bring treats for your child's birthday, that is totally fine.
If you are bringing the treats only for your child, I ask that you leave them at the office to not cause mixed emotions for other students.
If you would like to bring treats for everyone, you are allowed to bring them to my classroom.
I have 25 students in my classroom.
There are 15 girls and 10 boys.
I will send out a list with all student's first names and the gender next to their name. This list can be used for parties that we have and also a fun time when you may want to bring treats for students.
This will be my first year teaching, but I will do my very best to accommodate all my student's needs and requirements to enhance their learning abilities. I ask that you all work with me, while I work with student's so we can all help one another. Your child has a teacher that loves them so much, and I haven't met them yet. I will do my best with all my students!
