What is Online Safety?
Online Safety refers to staying safe online. I know this sounds simplified, but it is just being cautious of the websites, links, pictures, questions, and more that you allow yourself (and your children) to access online. For more information about online safety please click on the websites listed below.
Students should know how to be aware of websites that aren't legit, but if they don't please watch the video listed below with them.
Here are a few websites that can help you better understand what online safety is:
What CAN I do on the Internet?
You CAN use the internet to access information for assignments. If there is a website that you are unsure about, ask the teacher for approval before accessing the website.
You CAN use the internet during educational fun times – The teacher will let you know when it’s time for educational games and videos.
YouTube CAN be accessed on the internet when given permission by the teachers – Do not browse on YouTube during instructional time unless the teacher has given permission.
What CAN'T I do on the Internet?
There will be ZERO tolerance for cyberbullying. The internet is not a way to be mean and harmful to our classmates. Treat everyone with the same respect that you would like to be treated with.
Accessing inappropriate websites is prohibited. If you have questions about sites that aren’t school-related, please ask the teacher for permission. | Disclaimer: In some cases, accessing websites that aren’t school related, will change, but only at the teacher's discretion.|
