Dr. Elaine Hitchcock presents "Biofeedback for Childhood Speech Disorders:

Practical Information for Clinicians"

November 4, 2019

Dr. Hitchcock, in a discussion with Dr. Kathryn Cabbage, presented different forms of visual biofeedback for treatment of speech sound disorders. This online discussion was designed to provide clinicians with practical information on current biofeedback technologies and techniques, as well as why and how to use biofeedback to remediate childhood speech sound disorders. The presentation included a review of high-tech acoustic, ultrasound, and electropalatography approaches to biofeedback as well as less expensive alternatives for treatment. This invited presentation was a collaborative initiative between ASHA Special Interest Groups 1 (Language, Learning and Education), 16 (School-Based Issues), and 19 (Speech Science).

The Clinical Biofeedback Lab Invites Members of MSU's Music Program

May 2019

The Clinical Biofeedback Lab invited members of Montclair State University's music program to take part in voice evaluations conducted by students earning their degree in communication sciences and disorders.  The students being evaluated were provided with important information about their voice and how to keep their speaking and singing voices healthy.  The students conducting the evaluations were afforded the opportunity to expand their understanding of various aspects of voice and sharpen their evaluation skills. This was a wonderful way for students from different majors to collaborate and expand their knowledge about the human voice!
