Recruitment Flyer for Virtual "R" Study

Recruitment Flyer for Virtual "S" Study

The Clinical Biofeedback Laboratory, is excited to announce new virtual research opportunities.  If your child is having difficulty producing the "r" sound, please see Study 1 below for more details on how the Clinical Biofeedback Lab may be able to provide them with FREE virtual speech training. Sessions will take place online over video calls with a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist.  We are looking to enroll participants on a rolling basis, starting immediately.

Study 1: Does your child have trouble saying the “r” sound?

The Clinical Biofeedback Laboratory is seeking participants for a research study investigating online speech training for “r” errors that will provide free speech training for eligible children. Many children have difficulty producing the “r” sound, and some of these children are not able to eliminate their errors even after receiving years of treatment. We are assessing different speech training methods, with the goal of learning more about the effectiveness of these methods in helping children improve their perception and production of the “r” sound.

Evaluations and treatment are conveniently conducted virtually over video calls by a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist and are provided FREE of charge.  We are looking to enroll participants on a rolling basis, starting immediately.  If you think your child meets the criteria below, please use this link to fill out a questionnaire to see if your child is eligible to be evaluated or e-mail us at msuspeechstudy@gmail.com and our research team will provide you with further information about this study.

We are seeking children/adolescents who:

*Are 8-17 years old

*Are native speakers of English

*Have difficulty producing correct /r/ sounds

*Have no major history of hearing impairment or developmental disorder

*Have access to a computer (Chromebooks and iPads not permitted)

Study 2: Does your child have trouble saying the “s” sound?

The Clinical Biofeedback Laboratory is seeking participants for a research study investigating online speech training for “s” errors that will provide free speech training for eligible children. Some speakers have trouble saying the “s” sound even after months or years of speech therapy. If this sounds like your child, then please contact us for more information about our exciting new virtual speech therapy study that utilizes visual- acoustic biofeedback, which is a cutting-edge technology that provides a visual to a speaker’s speech in real-time. We are testing whether children can learn to produce the “s” sound more accurately through virtual speech therapy sessions using visual- acoustic biofeedback treatment with a certified Speech-Language Pathologist.
