Treatment Offerings

At the Clinical Biofeedback Laboratory, we evaluate and treat children and adults with speech sound disorders, voice disorders and motor speech disorders. We also help those who are seeking to reduce their accent to become better communicators at work and in their daily lives.  We often use real-time visual biofeedback during treatment, which provides clients with clear, simple, and reliable real-time images of the mechanics of their own speech production, so that with therapeutic guidance they may make specific changes to aspects of their speech.  The implementation of biofeedback procedures is a new approach to clinical management of speech disorders that has proven results.  If you think you or your child may benefit from visual biofeedback therapy, the Clinical Biofeedback Laboratory is currently accepting new clients to participate in this cutting-edge therapy approach.

RESEARCH OPTION:

Study 1: Does your child have trouble saying the “r” sound?

The Clinical Biofeedback Laboratory is seeking participants for a research study investigating visual acoustic-biofeedback for treatment of "r" errors in children ages 9-17. We are comparing the effects of speech therapy using visual-acoustic biofeedback when delivered in-person versus online. If your child qualifies for this study, participation will require the child’s attendance for 2, 1-hour sessions per week over approximately 11 weeks. Evaluations and treatment are provided by a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist and are provided FREE of charge.  We are looking to enroll participants on a rolling basis, starting the Fall of 2024.  If you think your child meets the criteria below, please e-mail us at msuspeechstudy@gmail.com and our research team will add you to our waitlist and provide you with further information about this study.

We are seeking children/adolescents who:

*Are 9-17 years old

*Are native speakers of English

*Have difficulty producing correct /r/ sounds

*Have no major history of hearing impairment or developmental disorder

*Access to a computer/laptop (iPads and Chromebooks are not permitted)
