This lesson contained five centers.
At this station, the students used a whiteboard marker to solve the problem presented by using the break-apart strategy.
At this center, the students played a matching game. They had to match the problem, the answer, and the correct strategy.
At this center, the students learned about the situations where inventors would need to use strategies to add and subtract.
At this center, the students rolled the dice to formulate the numbers that they would add and subtract in the problem. Then they used the place value strategy to solve the problem.
At this center, the students used a whiteboard marker to solve the problem presented on the number line.
This exit ticket encouraged students to think about their favorite strategy to use when solving addition and subtraction problems. This helps them to identify which one they are most comfortable using.
