PHONEMIC AWARENESS, LETTER KNOWLEDGE

In the past few weeks we have been busy identifying the beginning sound of words and reviewing the sounds of the alphabet (4 sounds per week). We have started decoding CVC word families and children were engaged in name, read and spell -at family words (i.e. rat, cat, bat, hat). They also had fun to make up no sense words that could be part of the -at family.

Children have been learning new snap words and practicing them.

These past few weeks have been busy doing baseline assessments to find out what letters they can identify by name and sound. Blending sounds to make CVC words (ie. CAT, RAT)
