Let's Celebrate!

In Let's Celebrate, we will be learning about celebrations as a hugely important part of human life. As artists, musicians, designers, historians and dancers, we will be exploring the ways in which all peoples and cultures, from every part of the world, take part in and hold celebrations to mark special events and special times in people's lives.

We have just started this unit and talking about how people celebrate, what people celebrate and why people celebrate. We have begun by celebrating our friends in class and giving compliments on how they are improving. We are also celebrating HARVEST and that this is a time of year for abundance.

The other day we explored some of the ways different cultures celebrate and looked at the different ways India celebrates Harvest. One of the questions that came up is if Harvest is celebrated at the same time and in the same ways.

We also talk about how we can say farewell to Yota and celebrate our last day with him. The children planned to make pizza and have a pizza party to say farewell.

Next up, we will look into how people celebrated the past and celebrate SINT MAARTEN by making lanterns with the children.
