Action Research Design Outline
My innovation plan has been focused from the beginning on seeking to implement exclusive spaces so that students specifically from my district can do their reading and develop their reading club over time. After reading and learning about the benefits Blended Learning and Station Rotations would bring to our students I found a better focus for my research – action. Today I can use all my learning to reflect on the implementation so that the reading space will be really fun and that my students feel comfortable to develop activities in said space.
Based on my research, it is estimated that these reading spaces will be implemented significantly in each of the schools in my district and that they will be part of the school structure.
The study aims to obtain data on how these reading spaces can influence and help students' interest in learning and significantly expand their reading fluency as well as expand their vocabulary. Directing my planning time will help my lagging students focus on their needs.
Therefore, according to all the research, my fundamental question is: How does the implementation of an exclusive reading space impact the fluency and vocabulary expansion for my 1st grade students? This will allow everyone to see the inside of my classroom and my colleagues will be able to know how I would benefit from this space based on my previous experience.
In this case I will use a qualitative approach throughout the research process and end with a test to obtain data on a quantitative approach. It is important to note that the qualitative and the quantitative are appropriate for different cases, not exactly one better than others, for this reason I will develop both methods in my research so that I present the most accurate results in my research.
The most appropriate type of data to collect data in my research is observation with specific groups of 1st grade students and then the data would be compared to determine what scope of the objectives was obtained, in turn I will work with a reading measurement program , this will allow me to measure the average time of reading fluency in reading for 1st grade students, this allows me to achieve the established objective and be able to improve or correct the necessary things.
The measurement instruments that I will use will be mixed, among these I have: field note and READING Apps (CLI which allows me to do it at the beginning, middle and end of the school year).
The literature review focuses on identifying advances in the field of study. In my case, it introduces the reader to understanding the effectiveness of a dedicated reading space for 1st graders to help students who are falling behind in their reading goals to facilitate growth at a faster pace as autonomous people.
