Finally, I want you to feel free to browse this tool and explore the contributions that each subject has for the community.
Contribution to My Learning and the Learning Community EDLD 5303
As I reflect on my learning and my contributions to my learning community in EDLD 5303, I acknowledge that I have met the key and supporting contributions, however I remain in a growth mindset and realize that I still need to grow and improve in certain areas. For this reason, I give myself a 96 out of 100 for EDLD 5303.
I worked well with my classmates and encouraged discussion both on the discussion boards and in virtual meetings each week. I feel like I contributed in a valuable way to every breakout session at 5303, and many times I took on the role of "leader" as the first to speak or the group member who reports back to the larger group what we discussed. I also helped build and provided feedback and progress to my core collaborative group. Working with Paola Rodriguez, I was able to share resources, homework tips, and feedback, while also having a group of people to turn to when I had questions or sought feedback. However, I do recognize that being a leader in my core collaborative group is something I can improve on. Paola took the initiative to create the group, and there were some weeks in which I could not provide as many detailed comments to my colleagues as I would have liked due to personal issues, however, all my assignments were delivered on time and under the regulations established by the mentor.
The beginning of Douglas Thomas' speech is accurate and has solid reasoning behind it. It is in one's nature to want to learn and interact with things. Passion plays a big role in learning simply because if a student doesn't want to learn they won't. His example of the teacher who taught Romeo and Juliet in his own way and got reprimanded for it shows important it is for a teacher to be able to raise interest in their students. Focusing on the whole learning environment makes it better in the long run rather than focusing on the pieces. Most students don't enjoy school because the environment doesn't motivate them or because they're being limited on the resources they are comfortable with. However, in my classroom I have generated a pleasant environment for my students so that in one way or another they feel comfortable and most importantly enjoy their learning process.
There are different theories of learning, interesting that it is important as teachers to know them to transmit them to our students.
Did you know that there are different types of learning theories???
This week I had the opportunity to plan the design of a course for my students that would have a significant impact on my innovation plan. It allowed me to reflect deeply on how I was going to align my expected results, assessments, and activities with the meaningful learning environment I am working to create in my blended-learning hybrid classroom.
I want to present my innovation plan, making this video was a unique and fascinating experience, I was able to discover things that I didn't know I could do and the fact of knowing that I can connect with the community is something vital for what I am studying and working as today professionally. it is so important because today I am preparing the future of this great Nation. Above I leave my video and I hope you enjoy it!
Carol Dweck (2006) explains in her book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success that there are two types of mindsets, a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. Dweck (2008) explains that those with a "fixed mindset" believe that abilities are mostly innate and interpret failure as a lack of necessary basic skills. People with a fixed mindset believe that you either have it or you don't, so to be successful you have to hide your flaws at all costs. On the other hand, Dweck (2008) argues that those with a "growth mindset" will live a much less stressful life because they believe that they can acquire any given skill as long as they invest effort or study. People with a growth mindset are flexible learners who are willing to put in the time and effort to acquire a skill and are constantly learning, becoming lifelong learners.
By reading this book I discovered my type of mentality and reaffirmed that I have and maintain a growth mentality, I constantly like to learn and thus keep my students directly updated. I particularly recommend reading it, it will serve as a guide for both your personal life and your professional life, and most importantly, we will be life's apprentices throughout our journey.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
In these times that we live, do you consider that you have a growth mentality or a fixed mentality, both in your personal life and in your professional life?
Blended Learning is a learning method that can be implemented in different schools, as well as in grades varying from P-Kinder to 12th. Particularly my experience in the classroom has been wonderful, because it has allowed me to reinvent the strategies and dynamics to carry out the different activities for my students, allowing me to learn with them every day and in turn prepare them to be lifelong learners.
Blended Learning
As the days go by, more and more schools and even districts are implementing Blended Learning, with the small group or individual strategy depending on the requirement of each student.
Currently, the COVA modality is being adopted, this allows students to be given the following aspects for their dynamic and fun learning, among which we have:
Choice: It gives us the freedom to choose how we want to present our acquired knowledge.
Ownership: Makes us owners of what we do, including our final
e-portfolio.
Voice: Gives us a voice to recreate our projects, ideas and transmit efficiently.
Authentic: Authentic learning that will allow us to do a difference in our learning environment and our organization.
Choice,
Ownership
Voice
and
Authentic
Would you be willing as a teacher to implement this learning modality in your classroom???
Implementation
As teachers we must be clear about the steps to follow to execute the best implementation in our classes, taking into account the best strategies to achieve the established objectives.
KEEP LEARNING!
