Reflection is Essential
Metacognition:
Thinking about thinking. We discover and learn new things about ourselves through thinking. As learners, we become aware of our own thinking, or rather how we think. Students will be encouraged to think about their own thinking throughout the class with journals, reflections, projects, and more.
Reflecting:
"You don't learn from experience; you learn from reflecting on experience."
So, at the end of each lesson, unit, semester, and year, I will have students reflect on the material and overall class. I will provide them with exit tickets or google forms surveys that will question their learning. Are you being challenged enough? Are you struggling too much? How can I make the class better for you? This gives students the opportunity to voice their thoughts and a chance to reflect on their learning to help improve my instruction.
