Lumio (First lesson)Lumio
This Valentine's Day crossword puzzle is a fun and educational way to get your student’s brains going. Especially around holidays, it can be more difficult having control over your classroom and students might tend to be more “wound up.” This fun game offers a seasonal way for students to still be learning but also having a bit of fun and a break from regular school work. Brain games are a great bell-ringer or class ender, that could either get your class excited to learn for the rest of the day, or vice versa give them something to look forward to at the end of class. This game combines valentines day with a crossword puzzle, with directions and clues to guide the students to solve it. With red and pink visuals, this game is perfect for any way a teacher might want to incorporate it.

Grade 3 to grade 6 Subject: Math This is a project based learning game for students. In this game, students are able to choose either “dream vacation” and calculate the funds as well as other factors that they will find useful to help plan their trip. This game starts with an intro of “if money didn’t matter, where would you go.” Students then have to do research to find the climate of where they want to go, as well as cost when it comes to food, accommodations, etc. This game serves as a great way to help students use math and calculations in real life examples. Kids are very imaginative, and this game is perfect to give students a creative zone to go wherever they want to go. This game is primarily for students in third to sixth grade. It would be a great end of the year project, and students could also be paired in groups of two to add in social skills to complete the project.

Age -Kindergarten to 5th grade Subjects: English This gettinging to know you activity is a great intro to get your students acclimated to the classroom and ready to learn. Most kids are nervous going into the first few classes. They are uneasy and a little out of their comfort zone. This game is a great way to get students comfortable and talkative, as well as get them ready for the school year. Students go through this or that activity, picking their favorite objects. This opens up conversations between students and gives them social connections. They might make a new friend through this game or even get a shy kid out of their comfort zone based on their interest. This is overall a very effective tool to use in the classroom and has a variety of purposes it serves.
Lumio (Fourth lesson)
Age: Kindergarten to 6th grade Subjects : Any Exit tickets are great for so many reasons. They are flexible, short assignments that can be used no matter what class in order to help students. While exit tickets aren't exactly a game, they are a fun way to quiz students over content learned. They can also be used as a check in for students to write down their emotions and feelings. You can customize exit tickets however, and they encourage students to pay attention to details during class, that way they will be able to leave on time. It adds a competitive component that motivates students. I personally believe you could add a piece of candy to the exit ticket to encourage students to try to make their best effort when recording responses.
Lumio (Fifth lesson)Grade 2nd-6th Subject: Any This activity has multiple activities built into it to help students become aware of the aspects of bullying. Bullying is very common during school, and it is very important for students to understand what it is and how they can do their best to prevent it. Throughout this game, there are fill in the blank and matching activities that guide students through and teach them definitions. This helps students awareness and also gives them resources on what to do if yourself or someone they know is facing bullying. This activity will give students knowledge for years to come and hopefully teach students a life lesson and educate them.
