Deadline: Friday, February 13, 2026
This is where you will find resources needed to create and present your own presentation using presentation software.
Most of you have created a presentation of some sort before (if not, please, see the tutorials at the bottom of this page on how to create a presentation in MS PowerPoint), therefore the mastery of this unit will be based on creating and delivering a five-minute long presentation in front of an audience as follows:
1. The Student Will plan and prepare a presentation, and present it in both rough and final form, making adjustments in between.
2. TSW assess the project’s flow for organization, meaning and timing.
3. TSW select and use multimedia aspects to enhance the project, taking care to pay attention to proper placement and size.
4. TSW assess a peer's project for organization, meaning and timing.
5. TSW incorporate engagement strategies during presentation.
6. TSW present the project to a group of peers and / or an outside group using eye contact, appropriate voice level and tone, and useful movement and gestures.
You will create your presentation in MS Office365 (using your school account), using MS PowerPoint (either the desktop or the online version). Alternatively, you can use other presentation software, but this must be approved by the teacher.
The topic of the presentation can be one of the topics mentioned in the "Presentation Topics" section below ; please pick a topic by emailing me or letting me know in person (first-come-first-serve basis, one person per topic).
You will use multimedia, such as images, sounds, animations, and videos to enhance the presentation. The use of these must be meaningful.
Your presentation will have no more than 12 content slides plus the title slide and the sources slide (12+2=14).
The text, images, and other elements will be properly placed on the slides, ensuring good readability as well as making sure the slides are pleasing to the eye.
The images will be resized and/or cropped properly, while maintaining their aspect ratio (no deformed/squished or pixelated images, please).
You will present your topic in front of the class using the projector and the screen; the presentation should last 4-5 minutes.
Your presentation should have a title page at the beginning and a bibliography page at the end. You can include the table of contents, as well; this is not mandatory, though.
All text in your presentation should be legible, easy to read from the distance; do not use font size smaller than 18 pt and make sure that the background contrasts with the text color.
Organize your textual information into bullet lists instead of full sentences. You will use full sentences when you present.
A maximum of five bullets (points) should appear on one slide; break a slide into two if there is too much information on it.
Avoid plagiarism: all sources of information (textual, graphical, video, sound) should be well documented. Citing sources is a must. Do not cut and paste text without enclosing the citation in quotation marks and citing the source. Use literal citations sparingly.
Use only up-to-date and credible sources. I will check the sources you used.
Your bibliography should include the exact address of sites you visited. “Google” or “Youtube” are NOT sources; they are just search engines that point you to sources.
Make sure you understand the topic well before you give the presentation. The class and I will give you questions on the topic at the end of the presentation.
You can pick one of the following topics for your presentation. There are some pointers provided for each topic. Please, let me know of your choice by email. The topics that are crossed over have been reserved already.

For those of you that have never worked with PowerPoint or a similar presentation software, here are some tutorials to get you started:
You can take advantage of the speak feature of MS PowerPoint where you can have the computer read out loud the selected text. You need to enable the "Speech" button - here's how.
Alternatively, you can also make use of one of the online text-to-speech websites where you can choose from the different speakers and accents:
