CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS: Padlet, inserted here, shows an agenda for topics and announcements related to my English classes. (Click through on the right)
Overview: Imagine the 'gains' you would get, if, instead of doing your paper last-minute under a lot of stress, you considered doing this writing process, instead:
Ask clarifying questions about the assignment. Make sure you know what your teacher expects.
Freewrite and journal for a bit. 10 minutes.
Take a break. Go outside. Meditate or do some stretches.
Start writing a chunk of the introduction and thesis statement.
Take a break. Stretch. Drink water. Do a 10 minute yoga routine.
Write the main body paragraphs, maybe 50 minutes' worth.
Take a break. Lift some dumbbells or go eat a taco.
Put the draft aside.
Work on it the next day.
VERSUS
The assignment is due tonight.
With a lot of stress permeating your thoughts and your body, you start writing, very tense.
Instead of writing, you go and play a game on your Nintendo Switch instead.
You don't turn in the paper.
(Stress plays a huge factor in terms of our time management and in our productivity).
