Learning Intention:
Sucess Criteria
To understand how the different potential outcomes of a chance experiment are represented in a sample space
1. I can list the potential outcomes of a chance experiement
2. I can distinguish between sample spaces where the outcomes are all equally likely and those who are not equally likely
For a 6 sided die, the outcomes are:
The Sample space is {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}
Some sample spaces you have to think about. e.g.
"If I pick a student in Rooty Hill at random, what year could they be in"
The sample space is {7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12}
Sometimes the probabilty of all events occuring is even. Sometimes it isn't.
In these cases the sample space is the same {Red, Yellow, Blue, Green}
Even
Uneven
