To understand how tables of values relate to equations and the patterns they form
1. I can use substitution from a rule to fill out a table of values
2. I can find an equation from a table of values
There are two skills to learn with tables of values:
1. Substitution
You can swap (or 'substitute') the x in your equation for an actual x value to find a y value
2. Equation finding
If you already know the values in your table, you can find the equation by looking at
a) how much y increases by
a) the value of y when x = 0
