For the candidacy of the MS/PhD degree, the first year graduate students will be evaluated based on the performance in the lab for the designation of the research advisor. The candidate will have to pass the thesis submission qualification exam and should be recommended by the research advisor.
First semester
Familiar with lab environments.
Lab operations, including instruments, tools, cleaning, ordering things, safety drills, and facilities.
Know lab cultures, including communication, group meetings, and duties.
Research ethics
Research gear, including literature search, lab-note writing, reporting, and basic equipment

2nd semester
Research plan and preliminary works
A formal research proposal
Detailed research ability, data acquisition, analysis, process, & visualization

Lab membership, know everything that should be done in the lab.
3rd semester
Know your research goals & solve the tasks.
Secure all key data for the research.
Signify your works through the discussion and literature search.
Manuscript preparation & submission

Final semester
Dissertation
The future direction of your research & career
Guide junior in the lab.
Ability to charge the lab.
For a PhD, you fulfill the course requirements in addition to the above and work on your research project.
