Financial accounting is the field of accounting concerned with the summary, analysis and reporting of financial transactions related to a business. This involves the preparation of financial statements available for public use. This course focuses on building confidence in personal finance, to bookkeep for a business, as well as reading financial reports of companies in order to make an educated decision with investing. Accounting 11 and 12 cover first and second part of this course respectively.

Cellphones are allowed the first five and last five minutes of every class, between which, are to be put away. They will be times however, where they could be needed for class work and the teacher will notify you when his is the case.

Dear parents/guardians,
This is Mr. Chen, I have your child enrolled with me this semester for Accounting 11. I would like to take this opportunity to establish a channel of communication in order to help your child to have the best learning experience.
Accounting is an important cornerstone to understand how business functions and will not only help aspiring students to become savvy investors and entrepreneur, it will also make students to plan for their personal finances and to establish an healthy relationship with money and career.
This course aim to cover 50% of a typical first year university accounting course, including concepts to read/analyse/create various accounting reports such as income statement, statement of change of equity, balance sheet and statement of cash flow, completing general bookkeeping, adjusting entries and more. Student will also involve in stock market challenge to simulate RRSP investing as well as playing accounting board games to make more sense of this craft.
Please note that I will be sending out mass emails to students and guardians when an assignment is graded; feel free to ask your child to share and celebrate together on what was accomplished. This will also bring attention to student and guardian to resolve any missing assignment in a timely fashion to help student to achieve the desired grade.
