Banquet Planning Guide
My Banquet Planning Guide demonstrates how CTSOs can be intentionally integrated into classroom instruction while supporting student skill development. Created as a group project in ALEC 234, this guide outlines a structured, student‑led process for planning a chapter banquet that celebrates member achievements and highlights the role CTSOs play within a high‑quality CTE program. The guide is designed to be accessible to all students, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities that align with individual interests and strengths. This structure helps ensure that participation feels inclusive and meaningful, reinforcing a sense of belonging within the chapter.
The guide also promotes real skill development by giving students hands‑on experience in event coordination, budgeting, communication, and teamwork. Students must collaborate, meet deadlines, and problem‑solve, mirroring real project management expectations in both postsecondary education and the workforce. By planning the banquet, students apply what they learn in class to an authentic, high‑stakes event, building confidence in their ability to lead and contribute to a team. This project reflects how CTSOs naturally extend classroom learning and help students develop the technical and employability skills essential for future success.
