Agricultural Education
My name is Avery Drohman, and I am originally from Hebron, Nebraska. I graduated from Thayer Central High School in 2023 and am currently attending the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where I am studying Agricultural Education with a minor in Animal Science, focusing on commercial beef production and equine management, and expect to graduate in May 2027. I developed a passion for agriculture at a young age by raising livestock and eventually starting my own operation focused on unique and obscure breeds, including Highlander crosses, teacup pigs, and poultry.
My involvement in 4-H and FFA played a major role in shaping who I am today, where I served as chapter president of my FFA chapter and competed in poultry judging, livestock judging, and livestock management. These experiences, along with the encouragement of my agricultural education teacher, inspired me to pursue a career in agricultural education so I can have a similar impact on future students. I will be student teaching in Hampton, Nebraska, under the guidance of Mr. Joel Miller in the spring of 2027. This portfolio reflects my growth and experiences as I work to become an agriculture educator who builds strong relationships, encourages students to be themselves, and provides hands-on, engaging learning opportunities.
