Mock Course
This Animal Science course was originally designed as a full-year program, but for the purposes of my Spring 2026 ALEC teaching block, I condensed it into just under a semester of instruction while still maintaining alignment to AFNR standards and high-quality CTE expectations. The condensed course emphasizes foundational animal science concepts such as domestication, breed identification, genetics, livestock evaluation, and introductory meat science. Each lesson is structured to support student engagement through hands-on activities, collaborative learning, and authentic agricultural applications.
This unit reflects ACTE Quality CTE Standard 5: Engaging Instruction, as instruction is driven by relevant AFNR standards, incorporates project-based and inquiry-based learning, and consistently connects academic content to real-world agricultural skills. Students apply technical and employability skills through authentic scenarios such as breed modeling, crossbreeding design, livestock judging, and facility evaluation. Instruction is flexible and student-centered, allowing learners to choose species, breeds, and project directions that interest them while maintaining a respectful, collaborative classroom environment. This course demonstrates my ability to design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that prepares students for future agricultural pathways.
