For this project, we had to choose a partner who we collaborated with to explore global technology differences and present them in a powerpoint. My partner was Gavin, and we both researched the populations, demographics, spoken languages, climates, technology usage, technology culture, and the digital divides of Italy (his location) and Paris (my location).
I realized that although it is a very popular tourist attraction, there is a lot of research lacking on the technology usage of Paris as a city. I also found it interesting just how much older the population of Italy was in comparison to the population of Paris. The regions also had more in common than I realized, as regional Italian and French dialects still exist in Italy and Paris respectively, and they both have a temperate climate. The most surprising statistic was that they both have 87% of their residents using the internet! What are the chances?!
This was a pretty fun project! Gavin and I ended up communicating via the discussion board we used to choose our partners. It looks like we were one of the first pairs of partners made, so I think getting paired up quickly was definitely an advantage since we had a bit longer to work on the project as a team. The discussion board worked really well as our method of communication and we both replied to each other consistently in a timely manner. We used powerpoint online to complete our project so we could both edit the same working document. This also made saving a copy to submit very easy in the end. I'm proud of our final project and confident in our work, and I feel we worked together effectively as a team.
