Through this final assessment, AI became a tool for reflection rather than a replacement for design. It helped me review my original project from a more critical point of view and explore ways to improve the site response, spatial planning, environmental strategy, user experience, and visual communication of The Open Interval.
However, the final decisions were not made by AI. I had to filter, question, and adapt the outputs based on the original concept, the site, the users, and architectural logic.
AI helped identify the strengths and limitations of the original project, especially the need for stronger site response, clearer public function, and better climate strategy.
AI allowed me to quickly explore different ways of improving the project without losing the original concept of Pause & Focus.
AI helped gather and organize ideas related to tropical design, passive cooling, shaded circulation, community spaces, and public engagement.
AI-generated images helped test atmosphere, material mood, lighting quality, and presentation direction.
AI helped improve how the project was explained through clearer writing, structured comparisons, and more focused design statements.
Overall, AI made the design process faster and broader, allowing more possibilities to be explored before choosing the most suitable direction.
AI could suggest general site strategies, but it could not fully experience Dataran Malawati, its atmosphere, movement, scale, climate, and social behavior.
AI could not understand how people emotionally experience stillness, pause, light, sound, comfort, and public space in the same way a designer can.
AI provided options, but it could not decide which ideas were most suitable for the project’s concept, users, and architectural direction.
Some AI outputs looked visually attractive but were not always practical, buildable, or suitable for the actual site conditions.
AI could support research, but it could not fully understand the cultural and community meaning of the site without human interpretation.
Because of these limitations, AI outputs needed to be filtered, corrected, and adapted before becoming part of the revised proposal.
Using AI in architecture comes with responsibility. AI should not be used to copy designs, replace original thinking, or produce work without understanding. It should be used as a support tool that helps designers explore, question, and communicate ideas more effectively.

In this project, my role was to decide which AI suggestions were useful and which were not. I accepted ideas that strengthened the project’s site response, public function, environmental performance, and spatial journey. I rejected ideas that were too generic, unrealistic, or disconnected from the original concept.
The final revised proposal still belongs to my design process because the AI outputs were not used directly. They were reviewed, selected, and adapted through my own architectural judgment.
The main change in my thinking was understanding that a strong atmosphere is not enough by itself. A community exhibition space also needs to respond to real users, climate, public activity, and long-term usability.
Through this process, I learned that AI can expand architectural thinking, but it cannot replace the architect’s responsibility. AI helped me see my original project from different angles and gave me new ways to improve it. However, the most important part of the process was learning how to question the outputs and decide what was meaningful, practical, and suitable for the project.
For The Open Interval, AI helped strengthen the original idea of Pause & Focus by connecting it more clearly to community use, environmental response, and user experience. The project became not only a calm space, but a more responsive public environment.
The future architect may work alongside intelligent systems, but wisdom begins when humans learn not only how to use them, but how to question them.
