AI was used as a design support tool to critically review my original project, identify areas for improvement, explore new design strategies, and improve the communication of the proposal. The goal was not to let AI replace the design process, but to use it as a tool for reflection, research, visualization, and decision-making.

The prompts were developed gradually. Early prompts were broad and produced general ideas, while later prompts became more specific by including the project name, site, concept, climate, users, and design goals. This made the AI outputs more useful and relevant to the project.

Analyze my original architecture project titled The Open Interval, a community exhibition space at Dataran Malawati, Kuala Selangor. The concept is Pause & Focus, using layered boundaries, filtered light, controlled views, water, and quiet movement. Identify its strengths, weaknesses, and possible design improvements.

My Judgment:
I accepted the suggestions related to site response, climate, and user experience because they matched the weaknesses I noticed in my original portfolio. However, I kept the original concept of Pause & Focus because it was still the strongest part of the project.

Suggest design improvements for a community exhibition space at Dataran Malawati, Kuala Selangor. Focus on tropical climate, shaded circulation, public activity, community engagement, visitor flow, rain protection, natural ventilation, and connection to heritage and landscape.
AI Output Summary:

My Judgment:
I selected the ideas that were suitable for Malaysia’s tropical climate, especially shading, cross ventilation, and rain protection. I rejected ideas that felt too generic or unrelated to the actual atmosphere of The Open Interval.

Refine the concept of Pause & Focus into a stronger architectural design strategy. The project should remain calm and reflective, but also work better as a public community exhibition space with stronger movement, gathering, and environmental response.

My Judgment:
I used this idea because it strengthened the meaning of “interval.” Instead of only being a quiet space, the project became a journey between activity and stillness.

My Judgment:
I did not copy the AI image directly. I used it only as visual inspiration for atmosphere, material mood, lighting quality, and presentation direction.
At the beginning, the AI outputs were broad and mostly suggested general ideas such as calm spaces, natural light, concrete walls, and reflection. These ideas were useful as a starting point, but they were not specific enough to the site or community function.
After adding more details such as the site, tropical climate, public users, and community exhibition function, the AI outputs became more specific and useful. The suggestions started to focus on shaded circulation, passive cooling, public activity, and clearer spatial experience.
The final AI-assisted direction focused on improving The Open Interval through shaded walkways, flexible exhibition areas, water courtyard, public gathering spaces, framed views, and a stronger sequence of movement from open public space to quiet reflective space.
AI helped me see the original project from a more critical point of view. Before using AI, the project mainly focused on atmosphere, silence, and controlled movement. Through AI-assisted reflection, I realized that the project also needed to function more strongly as a community exhibition space. This shifted the redesign direction toward a better balance between quiet reflection, public activity, environmental comfort, and user experience.
