Our goal is that Holliston High School students will…
ACADEMICALLY:
SOCIALLY:
CIVICALLY:
Students will work to develop writing and critical thinking skills in the application of historical thinking skills, such as causation, comparison, and change. Utilizing these skills will be accomplished through assignments in class, homework, projects, and tests.
Students are required to use their device during class time. Please make sure you are using the technology appropriately. Smartphones are only an acceptable device when given permission. Laptops, Chromebooks, and other full browser devices are required to complete this course.
It is required that you keep your learning materials organized. It is your choice whether you use a paper-based notebook or take notes on Google Drive. Certain digital organizational tasks will be mandatory, however. For example, I will dictate the names of folders and files for the purposes of establishing routines (not every folder, of course). Also, your tracking sheet will include routines for your benefit.
Here are some of the things you’ll need to be able to access every class.
Cell phone distractions are a major issue in modern classrooms. I acknowledge that we think and learn differently in the Mobile Age of the Internet, therefore instruction is designed with this fundamental fact in mind. Inappropriate use of cell phones, or any device, can impede academic progress and lead to much unwanted stress. Please respect yourselves and others by not giving in to the temptation.
I will be available as needed for extra help after school and during Directed Study. Please give me a 24-hour notice as I may have meetings or other appointments. If I am not available for missed work that has a time limit for makeup, I will extend the due date. If you have any questions or concerns during the school year, please feel free to contact me.
Although lewd behavior is not something I would ever show to children, it is still your choice to permit your child to view an R-rated clip.
