(1) Policy Definition
Energy sobriety is the voluntary reduction of energy consumption through banning some forms of usage, which is often called "renunciation". Banning ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) or private jets are two famous examples of such a policy.
"Voluntary" means that there is a political decision. This is the other side of "forced sobriety" when energy is too scarce or too expensive.
(2) What the slider in G2WS does ?
The slider simply changes the level of energy consumtion renunciation by a geopolitical zone towards sobriety. Sobriety in CCEM is an amplification of forced cancellation.
Levels between 0 and 100 means that sobriety decisions will be triggered by pain, with a coefficient that varies. from 0% to 100% (same level of recunciation as pain).
When you change the slider, the control KPI is the total amount of energy that is left aside (renunced), as a consequence of usage cancellation or constraints, expressed as a percentage, and computed as an average from 2010 to 2100.
