Micro-folies are physical installations designed for both adults and children which aims to spread culture in an interactive and playful way. One installation, called a "Micro-folie", consists of multiple Android tablets and one application displayed on a screen. While the user watches a looping video showing various cultural assets, he can use a tablet to learn more about what is currently displayed if he likes it. From there, he can learn about the artwork, the artist or the historical context through explainations, related artworks or mini-games. We also created a "conference mode" where one tablet can take control of all the other tablets and screen to display one piece of art in particular. From there, the "master tablet" is able to zoom and draw on the artwork to show informations. There is currently Micro-folies all over the world and the program is still going strong with new installation created every week.
Maintenance of the Micro-folie project was my first task when I arrived at Virtuose Reality Studio. My job was mostly maintenance of both screen and tablet application. In order to do that, I had to dive into a vast, pre-existing architecture of code with many functionnalities, networking between screen and tablets, and a tight communication with a wide database of artworks. Has I worked on various other projects, I had to do bug fixes and integrate additional languages such as japanese to the projet and deliver both applications.
This national cultural project has been praised multiple times by french president Emmanuel Macron and is one of the pride projects of Virtuose Reality Studio.
