Note: If you saw "I, Tonya", you''ll know it was a brutal film with a difficult (to say the least) mother-daughter relationship at its core. Alison Janey (pictured at right) was remarkable as Tonya's mother, Lavona Golden, and won an Oscar for this. One thing that sticks with me from that film is Lavona's response to Tonya, in a conversation they have about their past: "Spilled Milk, Baby". And despite this hard to watch movie, this phrase has stuck with me as - well, just fantastically descriptive. There is no point dwelling on the past. It is spilled milk, baby.
The colors here are great, black with bold red, white and pink! And, a red heart closure it cap it off.

Note: The inspiration for this is the late, great Olivia Newton-John song, "Magic" which I have loved since it came out. It is a simple song, considered a bit cheesy (after all, it was for the movie Xanadu) but carries a powerful message.
Here is my tribute in most vivid pink and sparkels - as you can see this is tough to photograph how bold this bag is. The text is in sparkly yarn of purple, lilac, turquoise and pink. I did the handles in pale pink, and added a pale pink cartoon cat lining and a pale pink sparkly heart button closure.
The color combinations of this bag almost seem to make it float way. Something a bit different.

It is a beautiful, large sturdy bag, set off with a large vintage leather-look purple button that is rather unique.
It is in maroon with the multicolor message, and I contrasted this with lilac handles. I lined it with pink with white cartoon cats, which seems to work well.

On a light lime background, the pelican is featured on some yellow briefs trimmed with red. A little sparkly dual color in the beak. The lining is thick leafy fabric. I added a shiny red button closure which is just perfect. Cheeky!

Note: Last fall I saw pelicans for the first time in my life. They are very present on Lake Michigan's Wisconsin shore. I love these dinosaur birds and this is my tribute to one perched atop a wooden dock post. Note: their beaks are kind of iridescent so I mixed gold with pink sparkle to see if I could get that right.
The message "The Pelican Can!" conveys the fact that these birds when observed are very determined in their actions.
I added a discrete brown wood-look toggle closure; and lined it with my favorite super thick leafy look fabric.
This is a supersized bag to accommodate that beak!

Note: I have only knitted one of these before, from a pattern I designed based on Danny's sweater in "The Shining" (pictured).
The last one was a messenger style and took ages to sell! Let's see what happens to this one, which has knitted up as a sturdy handbag. Lined with red/white polka dots, and fastened with a black toggle.

Note: Remember print newspapers? If Miss B could have a newspaper, it would be "The Daily 'Chops".
And, because Miss B was named after my little Scottish Terrier, I went with the headline, "Man Bites Dog".
This is an old British publishing trope to sum up how journalists assess a new story to determine if it will give an attention-grabbing headline ... "When a dog bites a man, that is not news, because it happens so often. But if a man bites a dog, that is news." In other words, the more sensational the news, the more the readership. Is it a man-bites-dog-story?
The bag is oversized, in bold orange, with bright blue straps, and a multicolored lining of vintage fabric.

It doesn't have a button closure as one is not really needed. Lined with my cartoon cats fabric.

This is my third telephone bag, and my first as a handbag style. I am definitely more experienced at numbers now. The vivid lime and pink work well together! The phone cable is overstitched in sparkle yarn. The lining is my favorite thick fabric with the retro leafy design.
I added the vintage gold and black button to the backside! It is still just as easy to close, and in some ways this is fun, as it means if you flip the bag, you have a plain black purse! This is a big bag, a beauty!
