Writing for an Audience
Understanding the Admissions Essay process
Drafting
Revising and Editing
Producing a final copy
To understand a little bit more about this service, see the planned curriculum below to support your understanding and expectation of sessions with your College Essay Advisor. It is possible that your child may require more sessions or sessions focused on his or her needs. Thus, this is a basic overview of what to expect but will be adapted based on your student's needs.
Christina Lee is a published writer who is a hired professional who has successfully supported all learners in writing. She focuses on skills and support students in establishing an authentic college essay topic. Her expertise and experience in teaching writing supports her students' success in college essay writing.
Below is a tentative curriculum for your student to follow as they go through the writing process. Sessions can be added and removed based on your student's needs. Before beginning, we will establish a plan specific for your student.

Session 1 ~ 1 hour

Review College Essay Form - Brainstorm topic
Homework - before the next session, student should have one general topic and at least 4-5 subtopics that fit under that general topic. Student can draw a mind map or can sketch meanings of these topics and that is acceptable. Student and Advisor can interact through whichever preferred method of communication (ie. create a google classroom, email, googlemeet, zoom etc.
Session 2 ~ 1 hour
Review Dos and Don’ts for essays
Review what College Essay Admissions look for in essays
Review how to outline your essay using your brainstorming
Student will have a completed or mostly completed outline.
After session 2, it will be up to the student to take that outline and turn it into an essay. Student should not take more than 2 weeks to do this. Parents/guardians can schedule sessions during these two weeks for added support.
Session 3 ~ 1 hour
Before this session the student must have a rough draft of their college essay completed and sent via email or on google classroom. There must be time for me to read the essay and provide feedback to your student.
Review the importance of editing work and using it positively.
Review essay together and tips for how to improve his or her essay
Student can share any thoughts or concerns as it come
