Welcome! I'm Christina Lee, M.P.S., a New York State special education teacher, literacy educator, speaker, and the creator of the L.E.E. Learning System™.
For more than a decade, I have dedicated my career to helping students with diverse learning needs discover their strengths and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom. My work focuses on literacy instruction, executive functioning, self-advocacy, and creating meaningful learning experiences that empower students to become confident, independent learners.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in English from Sacred Heart University. Before entering education, I worked for two years as a paralegal at a medical malpractice law firm. Although I enjoyed the legal profession, I discovered my true passion was helping students learn, grow, and advocate for themselves. That realization led me to earn my Master of Professional Studies (M.P.S.) in Special Education English from Manhattanville College in 2018.
Throughout my career, I have taught middle and high school students in special class, co-taught, and resource room settings. I specialize in supporting students with language-based learning disabilities and designing instruction that builds both academic achievement and learner confidence. My background also includes experience as a special education advocate, giving me valuable insight into the IEP process and helping families better understand special education services and supports.
One of my greatest passions is teaching writing. Using explicit, research-based instructional practices, I have helped students develop the skills needed to write literary analyses, argumentative essays, research papers, college application essays, scholarship essays, and other forms of academic writing. By integrating executive functioning strategies into writing instruction, I help students break complex tasks into manageable steps and become more independent writers.
As my work evolved, I recognized the need for a framework that connected literacy instruction with executive functioning, student voice, and self-advocacy. This led me to develop the L.E.E. Learning System™, an educational framework designed to help educators foster student engagement while promoting ownership of learning and long-term academic success. Today, I share the framework through professional learning, conference presentations, and collaborations with educators and school districts.
In addition to teaching, I am the founder of Miss Lee with Teacherly Advice, where I create classroom resources, professional learning materials, and practical tools to support educators in implementing effective instructional practices.
