"Glimmers" are those small moments of pleasure that we can experience when we make the intention to be more observant and mindful as we go through our day - things like noticing the shadows of leaves on the ground or sparkles in the snow, the ever-changing colours and shapes of clouds, the feel of the wind on your skin.
Our brain has its own algorithm - if you intentionally start to look for glimmers, you will start to notice them without trying.
These everyday observations can bring a rush of feelings - happiness, calm, peace, wonder.
They often make me feel grateful to be alive, in a body that can sense the wonders of the world. They are a good antidote to the rush and stress that surround us as they soothe our nervous systems, reminding us that we can take a deep breathe, savour the moment, and relax.
