“Calm” is a quick mindfulness moment that guides students into a gentle breathing pause. It’s helpful during busy parts of the day or anytime students need a soft, grounding moment to bring their energy down. This activity teaches children to notice their breath, settle their bodies, and find a sense of stillness before continuing with learning.
Introduction
“Let’s take a mini mindful pause together so we can calm our bodies and quiet our minds.”
Why We’re Doing This
“A short breathing break can help us feel more settled and ready to learn.”
Get Into Position
“You can sit or stand comfortably. Relax your shoulders and let your arms rest naturally.”
Breathing
“Take a slow breath in… and gently breathe out. Follow along with Sunny & Brain as they guide us through a few calming breaths.”
Notice the Changes
“As we breathe, notice if your body feels a little softer, quieter, or more still.”
Return to the Task
“Bring your focus back to what we’re doing next, and remember—you can always come back to this calm feeling when you need it.”
This short Sunny & Brain video offers a mini mindful pause designed to help students settle, slow their breathing, and gently calm their bodies. It’s ideal for moments when the class feels overstimulated, noisy, or needs a quiet reset before transitioning to the next activity.
