About us

OUR History

  • Milwaz Productions is an official, non-profit, registered educational performing arts company as of 10th August, 2015.
  • Milwaz Productions (an abbreviation of Milango Wazi: Open Doors; in Swahili) is founded upon Isaiah 22:22 (The Holy Bible).
  • The Production team comprises sixteen (16) Executive Team members, and fourty-four (44) young persons, ranging from ages 10-35, across Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Meetings are held Quarterly; with the yearly calendar running synonymous to the school academic calendar (September- July).
  • At each meeting, the team connects, generates ideas and plans yearly activities; attempting to discuss mediums to encourage students (particularly) in a deeper appreciation the three major literary and general community service engagement opportunities.
  • As a team, we have accomplished the successful production of: six (6) Educational Plays, one (1) National Poetry Challenge, one (1) Educational Workshop, one (1) Religious Play, one (1) Educational Tour and one (1) Community Project.

OUR Mission

Our misson is to encourage a deeper appreciation of the three major literary genres, (Drama, Poetry and Prose Fiction), locally and regionally, through our receptive and expressive exploration of different literary works.

OUR Vision

Milwaz Productions exists to:

Students

  • Engage all students, nationwide, in experiential learning of literary crafts.
  • Provide opportunities for students to explore and respond critically to specific literary texts as they observe and appreciate the author's craft, through workshops and productions, nationally and internationally.
  • Empower learners/ students/ teachers of Literatures in English (CAPE) and English (CSEC).
  • Facilitate the improvement of the academic performance and pass rates for English A, English B (CSEC ) and Literatures in English (CAPE) of all students locally and regionally.

Team

  • Develop the gifts and professional skills of all team members.
  • Provide an open door of expression and creativity.
  • Gain world class experience and training for the team.
  • Network and establish a sense of community with other international literature establishments.

Community

  • Engage our national community in a creative experience through the provision of high quality and infectious productions.
  • Create a positive outlook of youths of our national community.
