What Is Required
In the case of the child whose behavior impedes the child's learning or that of others, the admission, review and dismissal (ARD) committee must consider the use of positive behavioral interventions and supports and other strategies to address that behavior (CFR 300.324(a)(2)(i) and 20 USC 1414(d)(3)(B)(i)).
What We Do
When a child does not make adequate positive behavioral progress through the Behavior RtI process and the student is in Tier 2 Behavior RtI behavior support a Behavioral Support Team meeting can be requested. The Behavioral Support Team will follow the Behavior RtI process below. During this time staff will thoroughly document problematic behaviors.
For Special Education student who already have a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) in place but not for behaviors displayed.

2. If recommended by the LSSP the IEP team will obtain parental consent and set date for the Functional Behavior Assessment. The LSSP will collect additional data and will conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment.
3. The IEP team will utilize the FBA to develop a new Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
For student who HAS been identified with a behavioral condition and a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is in place for the behaviors displayed but it is NOT currently effective.
