Classifications are assigned to personnel based on their job(s) in the Foundation and proximity to anomalous objects, entities and or phenomenon. For instance, personnel deemed more important to keep alive will be given higher classification.
Class E is a provisional classification for personnel set up for personnel that have been exposed to potentially dangerous effects of anomalous objects, entities and phenomenon during established containment or experiment involving them. Class E personnel are to be quarantined and monitored 24/7 for harmful changes in behavior, physical appearance and illnesses. Personnel may leave this designation after being screened, debrief and processed by medical staff.
Additionally, Class E may be given to personnel deemed a threat to others or themselves. Similar protocols are to be followed, with an emphasis of correctional treatment. Personnel that are given Class E designation for this reason may have violated the Code of Ethics in such a way that it threatens integrity of themselves and or others.
Class D personnel are expendable personnel used by the Foundation to handle anomalous objects and are blacklisted from coming into contact with Class B and Class A personnel. It is public knowledge that Class D personnel are often selected from prisons worldwide convicted of violent crimes, especially death row.
Protocol 12 allows Human Resources to draw in Class D personnel from political prisoners, refugee populations, and other civilian sources. However, Class D in this case are less exposed to anomalies and often released after a period of time.
Lastly, voluntary Class D personnel are personnel from other designations and civilian sources who volunteer to undergo the scientific processes. Class D in this case are often rewarded for their work and sometimes even honorably discharged.
Class C personnel are personnel involved in day-to-day Foundation operations. Class C personnel have access to anomalies not deemed strictly hostile or dangerous. Personnel coming in contact with mind altering, memetic or biological properties are often subject to mandatory quarantine and mental evaluations.
In the event of a containment breach or other life-threatening event in a Foundation facility, Class C personnel are to report to secured lockdown areas or evacuate at the discretion of security personnel in the case of a catastrophic event.
Class B personnel are personnel deemed important to local/regional Foundation operations. For this reason, Class B personnel may only come into contact with anomalies that have been properly quarantined, screened and cleared of any mind-affecting, memetic and or biological properties.
In the event of a containment breach or other life-threatening event in a Foundation facility, Class B personnel are to be evacuated offsite to a designated secured area immediately.
Groups of staff and individual personnel with this classification are classified, unless otherwise stated.
Class A personnel are personnel who are critical to all Foundation operations. For this reason, Class A personnel are prohibited from interacting with the anomalous under any circumstances. When Class A personnel are in proximity to anomalies, they are to be kept away from areas containing said anomalies, such as in this case the containment zones of which most Foundation facilities are equipped with. Instead, they are to stay in secured areas at all times.
In the case of a major or site wide emergency, Class A personnel are prioritized to be evacuated and moved to a designated secured area away from the affected facility.
Groups of staff and individual personnel with this classification are always classified.
