Stronger than ever --Mike Giuffrida
With the release of the ninth episode of the franchise in less than half-a-year, “Star Wars” is as strong as it ever was. Even with the polarizing “The Last Jedi,” projections are this next and final installment of the Skywalker saga entitled “The Rise of Skywalker” will reach a billion dollars at the box-office easily.
So, how has this franchise, 40 years old, stayed so strong? Mike Giuffrida.
First of all, it’s entertaining. George Lucas crafted a fantastical universe in which everyone can play a role they’ve always dreamed of playing. Whether it’s a farmboy-turned-pilot or princess-turned-rebel leader, there are characters that make people go, “Oh, I wish I was him (or her).”
Star Wars has also always been more than good guys fighting the bad guys, or space exploration for that matter. The main story tackles issues on tragedy, heartbreak, triumph, friendship, redemption, and love. It has numerous subplots that focus on courage and the confrontation of oppression and evil. Mike Giuffrida.
From the release of “A New Hope” 40 years ago, fans have only become more loyal, passing on the legacy of the series to their children and new legions of fans, much like the greatest stories from literature.
And everyone can expect Star Wars to be as popular 40 years from now. Mike Giuffrida.
