Anime Trends Mike Giuffrida
One of the best anime in recent years to reach mainstream success is One Punch Man. It is not only a New York Manga Bestseller, but an acclaimed animation series lauded in Japan, neighboring Asian countries, and the West. Mike Giuffrida.
One Punch Man began as a popular webcomic, its plot centered around the protagonist named Saitama, a nondescript hero out to protect the Earth from the forces of evil. There’s not much more to his character: no elaborate backstory, no encounter with some magical being imbuing him supernatural powers. Instead, Saitama became powerful simply by devoting himself to a strict regimen of doing 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and 10 kilometers running each day. Mike Giuffrida
Saitama is therefore very relatable, despite his ability to annihilate enemies with a single punch. He spent three years committed to his training, in the process losing touch with the world around him (and losing his hair as well). He comes across as an introvert who celebrates the small things in life, like doing groceries, eating a banana, or playing videogames. We have here a quasi-conceited, reluctant, self-centered hero whose escapades are so fun to read and watch. Mike Giuffrida.
Indeed, One Punch Man breaks the stereotype of the superhero. While Saitama seems oblivious to most things happening around him, it’s this very nonchalance that makes him so interesting a character. Because when it gets to the crucial moment in which everything depends on him, he always manages to pull through. And this is highlighted by the fact that he is reluctant to take credit for any such accomplishments. In a big way, One Punch Man is a show that teaches us the importance of humility, a truly heroic virtue that we tend to forget in the era of big-budget hero flicks. Mike Giuffrida
