At Church Lane turn right. This becomes Athorpe Road. Turn left at the roundabout onto Undergate Road and past a supermarket. Just beyond that a right turn takes you onto Outgang Lane. Take Breck Lane to the left. On meeting Common Road go right and immediately left onto St. John’s Road. Just past St. John’s churchyard the path goes left up to School Road. Almost opposite just to the left of the school the path continues toward Castle Hill. Join Church Corner to the right o go up to the church. Go right along High Street to the bend where Firbeck Lane leaves to the left. After the houses it becomes Eastfield Lane. Take the track to the left at SK525 882 and continue in that direction (north-eastwards). Follow the ridge to King’s Wood. The path continues through the wood to Roche Abbey.

Leave via Abbey House and the car park on the path to Gipsy Lane. Turn left and go over the bridge. Just past the sewage works entrance the path goes off to the right. After going under the railway bridge turn left at a pylon and the path takes you all the way to just short of Hooton Levitt. At a junction of paths go right. At the next one go left and then right and down the hill to Maltby church. From the south-east corner of the churchyard the path goes across the fields to Woodlea. Take the road up the hill to the junction of the A634 and the B6427. Take the latter across the green along Muglet Lane to go right along Outgang Lane. Leave that at the bend and cross the railway bridge. This leads towards Maltby Low Common. Cross the railway at the level crossing and go through Maltby Wood. Or, through houses via Mortimer Road and Quilter Road. Turn left at the A631 Tickhill Road. Take a right along Glencairne Close. Turn right at the end and go through old allotment gardens along a track. After an open space the path continues through woodland and out onto a field path up to Stainton Lane.

Cross over Stainton Lane and continue passing the west side of the quarry to Austwood Lane. A left turn will take you to Baithwell. A right and a left past the church takes you along Micklebring Lane to the village of Micklebring. At the road junction at the green a right and a quick left takes you along the field path down to the M18. At the bottom of the hill turn left, down to the underpass and through to the other side. Turn right parallel to the motorway then leave it northwards towards the masts on Beacon Hill. Join Beacon Lane and follow it round to Clifton.

Continue down Common Lane and Denbrook Lane to meet the B6094. Go left and just past the house on the right a path goes off to the right. Take this up to Common Road and turn left. Reach Doncaster Road (A630) and go left. Now in Conisbrough turn right at the traffic lights up New Hill, High Street, past the church and round to the castle. Leave the castle, turn right onto Castle Hill, then left onto Dale Road and right onto Station Road. At the bottom of the hill turn left onto Doncaster Road and cross to go down the Station Approach. Cross the railway, then the River Don and take the path to the right. Climb up to join the Trans-Pennine Trail – route 62. After passing the viaduct you reach the river. Follow this to the railway bridge.

Follow the river bank passing Sprotborough Flash until reaching The Boat Inn. Just beyond that next to Sprotborough Bridge turn left and go up the hill to the junction next to the church.
Opposite the church is Thorpe Lane, which will take you northward up to Melton Road. Turn left here and after about 400m take Folder Lane on the right. At the end, a bridleway takes you northwest-wards. A field path takes you past Fox Flat Plantation. Bear left and keep the wood on the right. The path crosses arable fields to Sheep Lane. Turn left here and proceed westwards until arriving at Melton Wood Country Park. On the east side of the car park a track heads northwards. Take that up to a left turn and then on to the crossroads in the middle of the wood.

Leave this southwards to the edge of the wood from where a bridleway takes you south to meet another going west. Follow that round to the north-west to meet Hangman’s Stone Lane. Cross over and take the bridleway along the top of Barnburgh Cliff.

At SE498 037 a footpath goes off to the right. This takes you to Hickleton Road just south of the village. Turn right and when getting to the churchyard cut through onto the A635.
