Basic Microscope

Here are the names of the components of a laboratory microscope.

A second drawing of the laboratory microscope.

This is an image of an early microscope, simple lenses and mirrors to illuminate the sample on the left and the optical tube is on the left.

The simple lens used in all optical microscope is depicted here. The glass of the lens bends the light to make a small object appear large to the viewer. The small lady bug here is viewed, and the lens makes it appear larger. The use of several lenses positioned in a certain way, can create a magnified image up to 1000 times larger than the actual object.
