Frequently Asked Questions

Are microfluidic devices safe to use at home?

Yes! All microfluidic devices have reagents stored within the fibers of the paper. The concentrations of reagents are so small they pose no harm and all devices can be disposed of in the trash.

How will my students know how to perform experiments?

We will provide all the information on how microfluidics work, while the professor will still be in charge of teaching the material and delivering the lab activities. There will be several resources available about safety and experimental procedure while using microfluidic devices.

How can I provide these devices to my students?

Each lab comes with detail instructions on how to make the devices needed. It is the instructor's responsibility to manufacture and distribute the devices they will we using for their course. All of these devices are stable and safe enough to be shipped safely anywhere whether your students are working in the lab or remotely!

Are the materials for each lab ready to use "as is"?

Although the lab materials provided by MICRO include all of the necessary information to achieve the appropriate learning objectives, they are not intended to be a final product and we encourage participants to adapt the materials to fit the needs of their institution's course. We will provide participants with information on how to adapt, edit, and customize our materials.
