Students NEED a roadmap, and parents need to understand the "Why". If you don't have BOTH items, you're likely to lack impact, import and academic success models. This is true in Education, but also anywhere else in business and in Life. If you lack a Why and a How (Why are we doing this, and how are we going to be successful) you don't know when you've achieved success, completion and how/when to move to the next journey. As a leader in Fine Arts Education, I have had to develop the "how and why" and to learn to communicate them well. These are some examples of systems and protocols I've adapted and developed in Curriculum design, Mapping and Assessment.
All criterion are created backwards by design from the IB or AP programs Allowing for the students to know the culmination of their study
In order for students, teachers, and administration to know there is a directionality to the Scope and Sequence, true units of Inquiry and the acquisition of applicable skills and knowledge I started using this format of Curriculum Mapping (developed jointly at WIS with Richard Anderson (google educator)
It is imperative that people know there is a pathway to success that they can track from year to year, and to see their own progression through Education.
