Michael J Barber is an accomplished, trained, musician, dramatist, director and performer, who made the decision during the 2000-2001 School Year to concentrate much of his Performing Arts Education on mentoring and education for aspiring young Music and Theatre Students. To ensure that all students who wish to have the opportunity to excel in the Arts at any level be given that opportunity, and ensure that motivated students felt fulfilled in their artistic pursuits. To date, Michael has worked in 6 states, 9 districts and 11 schools, creating life long learning experiences, memories, rapports and building up budding artists. He has produced many Theatrical Productions, and hundreds of Concerts, Events and Programs.
Within these events, concerts, productions and other creative works, Michael has worn many hats, working in the capacity of Producer, Director, Musical Director, Conductor, Sound and Lighting Designer, Technical Theatre Director, Choreographer, Pit Orchestra Musician, and rehearsal accompanist. He has started several programs in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Texas -- all self sustaining and running prolifically after he had moved on to the next professional challenge. He has created Summer and Extra-Curricular Programs, as well as taught auditioning techniques and Vocal Performance techniques privately throughout his career.
Michael continues to perform and conduct professionally whenever possible, but most loves working with his students and creating lasting memories with and for them! Michael has landed coverage in print and broadcast outlets including NPR and NAE. In addition to his extensive directorial experience, Michael is an accomplished educator, performer and presenting Professional Development seminars. Michael is also the co-creator of "Ornament", a professional touring tribute group to the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
Outside of his work, you can find Michael fishing, hiking and spending time with family in the outdoors whenever possible, as well as singing and playing keyboards for his local music ministry.
