At the middle school level, Responsive Services constitute approximately 60-65% of my time as a counselor. As a practitioner, I am dedicated to working with all students, providing guidance and support to facilitate their social-emotional development and growth as compassionate and empathetic individuals. The range of services I offer in this capacity includes the following:
Individual Counseling: Through parent, teacher, and student referrals, I meet with students for a variety of reasons i.e. peer conflict, family issues, or harassment.
Group Counseling: Through referrals, I organize short term groups to address issues such as conflict resolution, academic problems, and self-esteem with the support local agencies such as Preferred Family Healthcare, Kids in the Middle and Annie's Hope.
Consultation with parents, teachers, and administration on a weekly basis
Community-Based Referrals: When a student needs support that goes beyond my scope, I refer students in need to community resources such as St. Louis Counseling, Preferred Family Health, BHR, and other local agencies.
Crisis: I respond in crisis situations when there is risk of self-harm or suicidal ideation. I will conduct screenings and assessments as appropriate and collaborate with families and outside agencies.
