Since 2015, MHYC has hosted the USA Junior Olympics Sailing Festival for Lake Erie. Promoted by US Sailing, the JO is designed to ignite the passion for sailing in kids across the country. MHYC has always included a Skill Builder component, where junior sailors are matched in fleets with elite coaches from around the US. 

Get up close and personal with professional coaches and improve your sailing skills on land and on the water.

The JO is open to all sailors, and the Sunday Regatta counts as an I-LYA Travelers Series regatta (Anyone can complete, places will be counted for the TS overall awards only for the I-LYA sailors).

Sailors: Full Registration Fee Includes ALL of the following

• Sailing! Friday and Saturday Clinics with Elite Coaches on nd off the water, including Saturday Power Talks where you get up close with the coaches.

• Sailing Demos! We will have RS Fevas, Hobie Waves, kayaks and paddleboards on West Beach this year to try out!  (weather permitting)

• Official JO T-Shirt -red, long-sleeved, tech fabric.

• Awesome Food! Join us for Friday lunch, Friday night dinner, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Daily ice cream treats after sailing.

• Fun and Entertainment! Enjoy Beach Toys on the MHYC West Beach including Hobies, O'pen Bics and RS Fevas, kayaks and paddleboards. Enjoy MHYC's beautiful pool on Friday night, and a DJ on Saturday. 

• Bonfire! Enjoy the annual Saturday Night Beach Bonfire party with s'mores and spikeball.

• Swag! The first 130 registrants receive fun swag including sailing stickers and more! 

• Raffle prizes! Raffle prizes will be drawn at the awards ceremony on Sunday.

Coach Registration Details

• Fine-tune your coaching and instruction skills, bring new ideas back to your race team or sail camp.

• During the clinic days, work with the elite sailing coaches and see how they help junior sailors on and off the water.

• Participate in Friday Night Coach Clinic, Daily debriefs, Saturday Coach Dinner and Saturday Power Talks.

With a coach wristband, you will receive the following: TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

• Elite Coaching to improve your coaching skills.

• Dinner Debrief on Friday night, specifically geared for our sailing coaches and instructors with our Elite coaches.

• Sweet Official JO T-Shirt in tech fabric. 

• Awesome Food! Enjoy our Friday night coach clinic with pizza, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.

• Coach Clinic Registration is $105 (Includes Food + T-Shirt)
  
  

Please note: It is not required for your team's coach to register for the Coaching Skill-Builder Clinic but it's a great resume builder and experience! Each team is required to supply a safety boat with either a supervising adult or coach on the water each day, and a "shore adult" in case of emergency for the team. If your sailor does not have a team/coach, or if you need to charter a boat, please contact kathyallyn@gmail.com.

Families/Use of MHYC Property and Grounds

• MHYC invites all families to enjoy the West Beach and our swimming pool during the JO weekend Camping IS allowed on West Beach, with prior permission and adult supervision. Contact kathyallyn@gmail.com with requests ASAP.

• All attendees can set up a Guest Account for the weekend using a credit card.

• If you plan to eat dinner at the club, due to increased membership, we REQUIRE reservations NO LATER than June 22 for lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
