Our goal is to get more kids, adults and families together on sailboats!
Our Sunday West Beach Watersports days allow MHYC members to rent one of our sailing dinghies, kayaks or paddleboards, for a 3-hour session. Hobie Catamarans may be rented for 1.5 hours. During these sessions, our instructors are on site to help you check your rigging and launch, as well as your return. They will be out on safety boats but will not be there to instruct you other than for safety precautions.
Join us Sundays from 1p-4p
This option is not available for new beginners, but rather a way for our summer junior sailors and our members to extend their sailing season or go out with friends or parents on MHYC's boats. MHYC Adult Members and member families not affiliated with Crow's Nest are welcome to use the boats as long as they have experience.

West Beach Watersports Session Details
Step 1: Choose your boat and register the skipper only. Please note member rates are applied at the end of registration. Rates are for the boat, not per person, for 3 hour rental except for the Hobie, which is a 1.5 hour rental.
Hobie Wave (2-4 people) - Basic level experience $30 for MHYC Members ($50 for our sailing community) Available to rent for 1.5 hours sessions due to high demand
O'Pen Bic (1 person) - Basic Level experience $15 for MHYC Members ($25 for our sailing community)
Remote Control Sailboats (1 person) - All levels - $15 for MHYC Members
RS Feva (2 people) - Intermediate level experience required $40 for MHYC Members ($50 for our sailing community)
Optimist (1 person) - Intermediate level experience $15 for MHYC Members ($25 for our sailing community)
Flying Junior (2-3 people) - Intermediate level experience $30 for MHYC Members ($50 for our sailing community)
Thistle (3-4 people)* - Advanced level experience - $60 for MHYC Members ($75 for our sailing community)
Tartan-10 (4-8 people)* - Advanced level experience - $125 for MHYC Members ($150 for our sailing community)
Club420 (2 people)* - Advanced/Race Team experience in this boat/pre-authorization required - $30 member rate ($50 for our sailing community)
Laser Radial (1 person)* - Advanced/Race Team experience in this boat/pre-authorization required - $20 member rate ($25 community members)
*You must have Director approval to rent this boat.
Step 2
On the day of the Open Sailing Session, arrive 10 minutes prior to your start time if you want to start rigging early. If you are going to be starting later than 30 minutes beyond the start of the session, we must know this ahead of time as we usually send all instructors out for safety boats. You will also sign a waiver if this is your first time doing Open Sail. Please bring a lifejacket for each sailor.
An MHYC Instructor will be on site to make sure your boat is rigged properly before you launch, and we will also have at least 1 or more safety boats on the water to help you with any issues. Please keep you boats in sight of West Beach area and to the West of the channel opening. Upon you return, you will be responsible for de-rigging your boat. Please leave everything in the boat and contact an instructor who will check you out and help stow the gear.
We will wrap up promptly at the end of the session (7:30 weekday, 4:30 weekend), so plan to head in 15-30 minutes prior the end of the session.
Hobie Beach Party Package (Outside of Open Sailing Session Hours)
Invite your friends to come and sail for a beach party! We offer 3 hour packages that include and an instructor to help rig, launch/recover and de-rig the Hobie and serve as a safety boat.
