Relative Communities

The paper describes the microbial composition of urban soils from Beijing

A graph like this would be useful for the display of our own data collected from Brooklyn College soils because it clearly showcases the composition of the microbial communities found in certain areas. In this case, the x axis tracks rings, or the proximity to the most disrupted urban environments. In our case the x axis could be altered to show community compositions over time, such as sampling from the same area across the seasons and semesters, or perhaps the x axis could show different sampling locations, such as samples coming from west campus, the quad, garden-lined areas etc.

The y axis could be left to similarly demonstrate relative abundance of bacteria in their community.

I wonder if our soil composition will be similarly diverse, more diverse, or less so.

I also wonder how many microbes found in Beijing soils will also be found in Brooklyn College.

Here is the chart I was able to make showing relative abundance. I filtered the Rarefaction step to only show Orders that appeared in the data over 10,000 times, thereby normalizing the data by getting rid of minority elements that could be noise.
