The Metagenomics Bootcamp course was designed to give high-level introduction to the common computer languages used for metagenomic data analysis. The introduction to command line use and syntax was through
BASH scripting. Then writing short programs and shell scripting was introduced through learning the basics of
Python. Finally, analyzing original sequence data provided by a sequencing facility was accomplished by creating a
BASH shell script of QIIME python programs. Visualizing and biostatistics of the data was practiced by using a
pipeline of R and accompanying package functions.
