Backpacker Magazine Cover

  • Why I chose this message

I chose this message because I loved my time hiking in Korea and I thought it would be fun to use something I was passionate about in my design.

I used contrast mainly with the text, both in color, font, lower and upper case letters. San Serif and the brush stroke fonts also add contrast. The date is also highly contrasted in color.

I used repetition using repeating the use of Futura and Bebas Neue fonts throughout the design. The colors are also repetitive.

I used three alinements, center, right and left. I used these alinements in order to better replicate a magazine feel.

I overlapped the magazine title and the background, where usually the title would stand apart and have more space. It turned out so nice that I kept it.

For my color scheme, I used mostly an analogous pallet to match my background image. I used blues and purples for my text colors by using the eyedropper tool to sample colors from the background image. I wanted to set the tone for a misty and cool hike through the mountains.
