The "reboot" of sorts for Bullets, Blades, and Blood honestly started as some of these random doodles I was sketching in a new sketchbook I bought on a whim a few years ago. When I started seeing the original B3 characters with the redesigns of the Fighting Power characters, the wheels started spinning in my head that maybe they should be in the same continuity to begin with. It wasn't that much of a foreign concept anyway as they had crossed paths/teamed up in the original B3 anyway, so it wasn't too much of a stretch. From here, it was just a matter of slotting in where these characters fit best in this new take on the story.
You can read from my notes in the sketch that I intentionally took some cues from Nightwing's costume design for Voltage. The blue lines are supposed to be like electrical current running through his costume that you could see surging up as he uses his powers.
Elandra, on the other hand isn't too special. Her design is mostly unchanged from the VERY few drawings I have done of her in the original B3. I always pictured her looking like Nia Long in her youth (around the timeframe of her acting career on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and the original Friday film).
For those keeping track, Ashley (AKA Intensity) was designed as white/Caucasian, blonde female wearing a red and black track suit in the Fighting Power story. That was mainly because I was modeling a lot of my characters in my youth after my friends and classmates. While I did like her original design, I felt that the Fighting Power team needed more diversity on their team roster. Right off the bat, I wanted Ashley to be the eyes of the readers/viewers when the reboot starts, so I went with a race change of her being African-American/black instead. She maintains her red and black track suit, but I didn't notice until after I inked and colored this sketch was that she looks far too much like Marvel Comics' Misty Knight. That could be easily remedied with a few minor tweaks down the road.
As for Sunburn - now dubbed "Dragon" - I wanted to make him and his older brother, Voltage, Hispanic for this reboot. As soon as I saw Doyle's hairstyle in The Secret Saturdays cartoon on Cartoon Network a few years ago, I wanted to give that to Dragon here. I gave him a similar costume to Doyle just to get the look down to be honest.
Much like Voltage, Intensity, and Dragon, Heartbreak (later dubbed "Kanashimi" in the story) was another former Fighting Power team member that got an ethnicity change for this reboot. She would be a Latina-flavored kunoichi in this iteration, which was a complete overhaul of the original version of the character. Given her powers and skillset, it made the most sense to me. Plus it gave me the chance to drastically change her backstory and origins.
Delacroix "Croix" Blackthorn is mostly unchanged visually from the original B3. I kept the Vergil-esque (Devil May Cry) trench coat for him along with the katana for style. He's still going to resort to firearms as well, so he doesn't have that complete distaste for them like Vergil does.
Cyberfist is one of my characters whose design hasn't changed at all since I originally created him. My main concern for him in this reboot was explaining the WHY does he wear the armor when he's a wildcard like the rest of the Fighting Power members. This would lead to why when he's first introduced into the reboot under the name, "Reactor", that he's a member of the Sentry Corps since his armor serves as a containment device of sorts to regulate his destructive powers.
Ever since I saw the Deadman Wonderland anime, I wanted to do something similar with the bloodmage in B3, Nissa Lee, in terms of her powers. This initial sketch of sorts for her had me taking some visual cues from Elvira, Mistress of the Dark herself in terms of her hairstyle and costume.
This unfinished sketch was two examples of me testing out some new designs for both Koji Shino and Francesca Valentina from the original B3.
Koji maintains his bandaged appearance from the original B3 that was heavily inspired by Makoto Shishio from Rurouni Kenshin, while his powers were inspired by Xian's from X-Men 2099 along with Domon Kasshu's Shining and Burning Finger special attacks from Mobile Fighter G Gundam.
Francesca's appearance here was a result of me toying around the idea of her being a belly dancer of sorts, due to my friend, Angelica Daniel Sells, who inspired me to create the character, sent me a lot of photos of real-life dancers. That sparked my creativity to see if I could make that work for a new costume for her in this iteration. I'm split on whether or not that I'm going to come back to that concept.
The oldest original superhero team I made in my youth that even pre-dates the Fighting Power team was the team of Metalfist, Tecto, Witch Woman, and Scarlet Falcon. When I was making a list of my original characters that I wanted to include in this reboot, I had them on the top of my list to redesign in some capacity.
Metalfist (far left) and Tecto's armors were originally heavily influenced by Ironman and War Machine since I was a fan of the Ironman cartoon (Marvel Power Hour) growing up. I completely threw out that initial design and went with something different here. Since they were working for the Sentry Corps as their "elite" operatives, I wanted to give them armor designs to set them apart from the rest of the factions' forces. They do what they consider is "patriotic" as they serve their country, hence why I went with a Captain America-inspired shield for Tecto. To this day, I'm still not so keen on their names.
I remember cooking up Scarlet Falcon's design after revisiting some of the old Birdman Hanna-Barbera cartoons on Toonami's animation block. Her wings are reminiscent of the artificial ones that Birdgirl had in the single episode that she appeared in. For her revamped design, I wanted to give her a flight suit-inspired costume and lean more into her being a cyborg like most of the other members of the Sentry Corps. Scarlet Falcon would be renamed "Silverhawk" (as nod to the beloved cartoon from the '80s...) in the reboot.
Witch Woman's original design was inspired by Wonder Woman's costume from the Superfriends' area, with the only differences being that she went with a black and grey color motif and wore tights instead of just the one-piece bikini. For this reboot, I thought that was pretty cheesy to go with now. I gave her a Phoenix (X-Men) style sash for her belt and went pretty lax on the design since she would be the only member of their group without any cybernetic enhancements, given that she's their practitioner of magic. Witch Woman would be renamed "Sayge" (a play on words of the spelling of "sage").
Another early sketch of Kanashimi after I settled on the name change for her. I was looking at artwork(s) of X-Men's Psylocke when I wanted to depict her in a similar pose.
Early into designing characters for this reboot, I randomly got the idea of doing something new for the lycan princess, Nadja Mozol, for this new iteration of the story. At the time, I was following then wrestler/fitness model Hania the Huntress shortly before she retired from in-ring competition and asked her on a whim if I could use her likeness for this character. Surprisingly enough, she approved and I have made a habit to share with her any new designs I have cooked up over the past year or two. This sketch would be the first design I would work on for this character.
There's not much to say about this sketch other than it was an early redesign for an old Fighting Power villain called Rockfire that would be later revealed to be one of a race of alien volcanic golems.
He definitely has a place in this reboot. I just haven't slotted him there yet.
When my friend, BouxKan, originally sent me the in-game screenshots from the City of Heroes video game that she originally created Tundra in to give me a sense of how she "should" look before I took some creative liberties in that regard, I got to sketching how she looked in that game to give myself a sort of a reference point before I took up the task in attempting to recreate her in Daz Studio.

Fabrica de Herois is a mobile application that allows anyone to create comic book style characters. It comes in two different editions, either it's 2014 original version or the 2016 (current) edition. Most artists seem to prefer the original version for the vast options available, but while I haven't spent too much time with the current edition myself, I have managed to get by for the most part. You can visit the website for this application here.
Since Daz Studio or constructing any sort of 3D model(s) is so time-consuming, I thought that this application would be a nice option to have in my back pocket for when I wanted to get an idea for a character down but didn't have the time nor the resources (via the Daz store) to get a proper idea for a character in this continuity to life. What you find below are the fruits of those labors.
Ballistic Boomshard, the Sentry Corps' resident explosives expert that operates primarily in their covert black ops unit.
I remember even before I saw the Fullmetal Alchemist anime (both versions), I liked the concept of someone having "time bomb" like powers, akin to something along the lines of X-Men's Boom Boom. Then Full Metal Alchemist's Kimblee really took it up a notch in terms what one obsessed with explosions and being armed with that type of power would do with it. That comes into what I want to do with this guy. He doesn't merely chuck bombs around like Mega Man's Bomb Man or simply blows stuff up by touching them with alchemy like Kimblee. In some sorties, this lunatic even rips off his own cybernetic body parts and uses them as "grenades" as he's willing to blow himself up time and time again as long as it gets the job done. Why would he have such reckless abandon you ask? Easy, because he can simply download his mind into another reconstructed body that's uploaded to the Sentry Corps' cloud servers, so that he can download himself into a new body better that the one before it time and time again.
Cassiopeia, one of the Sentry Corps' cybernetic officers, displaying her "Starburst" weaponry.
Fun fact: When I originally created this character in middle/high school, her design was similar to one of the "hunters" (Robyn Canmore) during the Hunter's Moon 3-parter in the Gargoyles cartoon. This time, I gave her a color scheme similar to Mega Man's Proto Man on purpose and retooled a few things.
Cassiopeia, one of the Sentry Corps' cybernetic officers.
For anyone keeping track, she outranks both Reactor and Tundra in terms of duration serving the organization and field experience. Her cybernetic enhancements give her the usual super-strength and durability expected to the fully converted members of their forces, but an added bonus is her wrist-mounted gauntlets fire powerful concussive blasts that she dubs "Starbursts" akin to her namesake concerning the stars. They can fire traditional weaponry too, such as gunfire and grenade launcher shells. I didn't want to limit her skillset to being too much like Spider-Man's Shocker in that sense.
Trapmaster Spider, Resident hacker and informant in my universe, having no allegiance to any of the factions at play. He works for the highest bidder.
When forced out into the field, he dons this specialized suit of armor. He's not a capable fighter so he specializes in hit and run tactics, using his robotic arms to evade his opponents, functioning much like Attack on Titan's ODM (Omni-Directional Maneuver) gear with wire cables to swing around. His armor allows him to hack into and control anything computerized/technological. He controls anything he hacks into with his trusty gaming pad to his own amusement. It possesses some limited optical camouflaging as well too.
The "Acid Man" is a wildcard (the term for a mutant in the B3 continuity) whose body was made up of entirely of powerful corrosive materials once his powers manifested. He is the same bounty that the Headmaster of the Hunters' organization, Reno Goldmire, apprehended to save the life of the then acting President. This wildcard was responsible for maiming Lady Rika's body to the point of near-death that Reno was forced to save her life by making her an immortal homunculus with alchemy. After he was slain his fateful battle with Reno, his remains were collected by the Jupiter Foundation for study for their ongoing wildcard research.
More likely NOT his final design. I wanted to get something down before I start hunting for materials to make him a reality in Daz Studio. I wanted to give these hero design apps a shot on my tablet when I was home for the holidays. This is the first of a few designs I cranked out. I figure I can do quicker designs for minor characters with this before designing them in-depth via sketches or rendering them in Daz Studio - if possible.
As for this character, I'll have a revamp for him down the road.
A petty criminal who is known as Galeforce, uses her wind based powers to rob banks and jewelry stores. Eventually this wildcard finds a higher calling for her unique talents...
In my old notes, I called this character "Breeze" in my youth, but there's nothing gentle about this force of nature. In Japanese, Kaze is the word often associated with breeze so I'm keeping that as an alternative working name for this character. I originally didn't give her any cybernetic parts, but that was something I just cooked up on the fly. Maybe she could get some black market tech from the Sentry Corps down the line? That's always an option. I think her final look in Daz Studio will have her with more Asian characteristics, hence the choice in attire. The gauntlets are to act as stabilizers for her powers to absorb the extra force that she's emitting. I figure it would be for safety much like Quake/Daisy Johnson's gauntlets, for she won't shatter all of the bones in her arm from wielding the force of a hurricane.
I present an early look at a heroine who I am dubbing The Titaness.
I blame myself from watching The Boys on Amazon Prime for her Amazonian look, but I've wanted to take a crack at making my friend, DatenshiEsyel's main e-fed character as a part of my story's universe. Much like Queen Maeve, she would be a publicly known heroine and already established, being one of the few powered people that the government allows to operate independently.
In terms of powers, I'm considering giving her the ability to increase her size and mass to a gigantic size by psionically drawing extra mass from an extra-dimensional source while gaining superhuman strength in proportion to her height, much like Marvel Comics' Giant-Man/Black Goliath, but taking it a step further. She could simply add more mass while gaining additional superhuman strength without changing her height as well.
Very early concept design for a character named "Astridia" for the Jaegers/Hunters' faction as the daughter of the mystical Norse beast, Fenrir, and a Valkyrie from the same mythologies. She was created as another collaboration between myself and my friend, Valkyrie, a casual e-fedder and Twitch streamer.
Whenever I create this character in Daz Studio, I'm going to have her look more bestial along the lines of what I did with Nadja Mozol's design.
I was merely fooling around on a whim and came up with this character that I have simply named "Kyojin"... Yes, I'm an Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin fan. I wanted to make a colossal foe for The Titaness on par with the Beast Titan in a sense.
This was an early attempt at portraying Vivienne Tan, the current heir and head of Tan Industries that provides off-the-books funding to a wealth of operations in the B3 universe, including the Jaegers and certain sects of the Underworld.
